The Richmond Delta Youth Orchestra presents a selection of our ensemble recordings from February and March 2021 featuring our large ensembles. This past year, our musicians and conductors have met in-person and online, developing new skills such as ensemble playing while apart and recording with a click track. Throughout this unprecedented year, the determination of our musicians and conductors to perform has driven us to create safe performance and recording opportunities.

The Richmond Delta Youth Orchestra is a professional orchestral preparation program for young musicians, providing instruction and performance opportunities in an ensemble setting. Founded in 1971, the Delta Youth Orchestra operated in Ladner for more than 40 years. The Orchestra underwent tremendous growth throughout the 1970s and 1980s, attracting young players from Richmond and the rest of the Lower Mainland. Recognizing that the majority of its young musicians were residents of Richmond, the Orchestra officially changed its name to Richmond Delta Youth Orchestra in 2013. The Orchestra currently includes 120 young performers from all over Metro Vancouver across our seven divisions: Symphony Orchestra, Senior Strings, Intermediate Strings, Junior Strings, Senior Winds, Junior Winds, and Chamber Music. We look forward to celebrating our 50th anniversary season beginning September 2021.
