Russell Peck (1945-2009): Cave

A vibrant component of one of Canada’s oldest, largest, and most exciting music programs, the UBC Bands are distinguished by outstanding performances and socially-conscious programming. Expanding upon the comprehensive curriculum offered by the School of Music, the division hosts numerous master classes and workshops with internationally renowned guest artists, including the annual UBC Brassfest, Windfest, Summer Music Institute, and Wind Conducting Symposium. Students enjoy ample playing opportunities in ensembles of the highest quality, such as the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Winds, Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz Bands, and rehearse and perform in outstanding facilities that include the acclaimed Chan Shun Concert Hall, Old Auditorium, and Roy Barnett Recital Hall. WBP students enroll in the Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees, leading to careers in performance, composition, education, arts management, and in the recording, television, and film industries. And alumni hold prestigious appointments at universities, colleges, and public schools, and work in major symphony orchestras, opera orchestras, chamber ensembles, musical theatre, early music, and commercial music around the world.
