VSOSOM Sinfonietta

Members and friends of the VSO School of Music Sinfonietta Ensemble share their knowledge and expertise of a variety of instruments in these short tutorials. Learn about the unique capabilities and characteristics of the violin, bassoon, guzheng, french horn, and a wide range of percussion instruments from these up-and-coming young musicians.

Sinfonietta is the VSO School of Music’s advanced string orchestra, directed by Carla Birston. A welcoming and collegial group of around 30 talented young musicians, the VSOSoM Sinfonietta plays in side-by-side and pre-concerts for the VSO; interacts with VSO guest artists and players; collaborates with other VSOSoM ensembles and soloists in departments such as Jazz & World Music; and performs 5-8 concerts annually in the local community.
