- Mixed Ensemble
This initiative by the Capilano Flute Choir brings together flutists from across Canada for a special online performance of Spem in Alium, a 40-part motet by Renaissance composer Thomas Tallis (1505 – 1585), arranged for 40 flutes + contrabass by Andy Findon. During the Fall of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic prevented so many amateur musicians from gathering together, this recording project united flutists virtually, from Victoria to Halifax.

Thomas Tallis: Spem in Alium
The Lower Mainland’s premiere amateur flute ensemble, the Capilano Flute Choir brings together adult flute players, committed to becoming better musicians and sharing their music with the public. In the fall of 1993, six amateur flute players began making music in a basement, with a dream of becoming a flute choir. Realizing they needed guidance, they asked flutist Brenda Fedoruk to attend a few rehearsals. From its humble beginnings the Capilano Flute Choir has grown and brought the joy of flute ensemble music to its own amateur members and to audiences throughout the Lower Mainland. In the fall of 2020, Brenda “passed the baton” to our current Music Director, Mark Takeshi McGregor. Visit the Capilano Flute Choir online: www.capilanoflutechoir.ca
