Classical guitar is not limited to a specific school of music, but rather simply the use of the nylon string instrument, and perhaps certain right and left hand techniques. We approach many kinds of music with enthusiasm and discipline. The instrument is versatile enough to express these, and with two guitars the opportunities for arrangements are expanded. We would like to take you on a tour through time, with a brief taste of musical eras from the Renaissance through to the present.

Wazaman Duo is a local classical guitar duo formed in 2018 consisting of Matt Silverman and Sara Wazani. They perform music from the great Spanish Romantic composers Albeniz and Granados, the French Debussy, and adaptations of Bach’s inventions for keyboard, alongside their own compositions. The two New Westminster guitar teachers give lessons to over 100 students between the two of them at the longstanding Neil Douglas Guitar Shop on 12th Street. They value the variety and interconnectedness that music fosters, and enjoy playing locally in festivals such as Live at the Gallery, Uptown Live, and New West Winterfest.
