The VSO School of Music has been serving Metro Vancouver since 2011, offering programs for all ages and skill levels across a variety of genres and disciplines. It is the only music school in Canada to be associated with a major performing orchestra.
The Tovey Centre for Music encompasses the symphonic programs and activities of the VSO School of Music and includes our Youth String Ensemble program led by Carla Birston. The Preludio beginner ensemble, Intermezzo and Concertante intermediate ensembles, and advanced Sinfonietta ensemble feature some of the school’s most dedicated string players. These young musicians continue to develop their skills through performance recordings and workshops with esteemed members of the VSO.
