Babyface Brass
- Jazz
- Mixed Ensemble
Babyface Brass got together at New Brighton Park to play a set of danceable upbeat music as folks walked their dogs, enjoyed the sun, or stopped by to see who was making all the racket!
Bolstered by the tap dancing duo of Rhys and Roy, also known as From The Sole, Babyface rips through jazz classics and original tunes with solo battles, freestyle lyricism, and a healthy dose of never quite knowing what’s going to happen next.
Enjoy the show, and remember to wash your hands!

Babyface Brass has been busking with high energy and danceable music on the streets of Vancouver for over 10 years. We play a modern and exciting mix of jazz, world music, New Orleans second line, hip hop, and funk. Defying expectations, musical genres and bylaws Babyface Brass is Vancouver’s premier street jazz and party band with an ensemble that regularly ranges from 4 to 12 people including horns, drums, bass, and tap dancers. Babyface Brass is led by experienced working local musicians, Ashton Sweet, Mike WT Allen, Kenan Sungur, Dave Taylor, and Rhys Arrieta.
The band has performed at festivals such as Arts Wells, Quadrapalooza, and Woodstove, while also being spotted at local venues like the Vancouver Playhouse, the Imperial, Vancouver City Hall, monthly performances at Cafe Deux Soleils, and the 2011 Hockey Riot. We have appeared on CBC Newshour, Co-op Radio, and in the Vancouver Sun, yet remain Vancouver’s best kept secret at the corner of Granville and Georgia!
