If you want to hear a huge sax through a bunch of effects pedals then you’ve come to the right place.
“Very Large Saxophone” is an improvised piece for solo bass sax and electronics, which is an artsy pretentious way of saying I made some weird sounds through some weird effects to make this weird piece of music for your entertainment.
Enjoy!
Mike WT Allen
Very Large Saxophone
Described as a “compositional tour-de-force” by Discorder Magazine, “fresh, infectiously rhythmic and warming” by Vancouver Classical Music, and “loud and weird” by his friends, Mike WT Allen is a Vancouver based musician with a voracious appetite for music.
As a composer Mike has seen commissions, performances, and debuts by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Redshift Music, and the Hard Rubber Orchestra. Additionally he has composed for award winning films, and leads his own projects such as the 20 person jazz-metal orchestra Space Elevator.
As a performer Mike has toured internationally, headlined festival stages to thousands of people, and played in a hair salon twice. Whether he’s playing heavy metal bari sax, keyboards in a hiphop jam, or sweet instrumental songs on clarinet, Mike is constantly looking for new ways to explore music across a wide variety of instruments and styles.
As a person Mike enjoys long walks on the beach, has an unhealthy obsession with raccoons, and loves the colour purple. If you’d like to know more about things that he does, email mike.w.t.allen@gmail.com or just go talk to him at his next gig, he’s the one with the colourful hair and he’s unusually friendly.
Love, Mike
